Brewery

Brewery Home

The Brewery was probably built in 1855 and, remarkably, looks just as it did then. The Gottstein family purchased the building in 1965 as a weekend “get-away” from San Francisco. Now, after many additions and renovations to the building, it is the home of Ruth Gottstein and the home office of Volcano Press, the publishing company established by Mrs. Gottstein.

Werolin Home

Werolin Home

The stone walls and steps sweep up to this home on Consolation that was built by two generations of the Cook Family. The present home was built in the 1930’s with an upstairs addition added in 1954 but the first Cook family to build on the site was Louis Cook in  1890. The present owners, David and Kathy Werolin purchased the home in 2001 and have brought family antiques from New York dating to 1796. The home is a showplace for the Werolin’s antique furniture and art.

Straw-bale Home

Strawbale Home

This 21st century home was built with unique construction in 2002. Rice straw-bales are the building blocks. The “truth window” in the hallway allows for viewing the straw. Amazingly, this beautiful home is totally independent in energy production, as it is not connected to the power grid.
Surprising energy efficient ideas are revealed in this home on the home tour.

Schoolhouse Home

Schoolhouse Home

The present day “Schoolhouse” home of Paul and Chris Crosby served as the Volcano grammar school from 1855 to 1956. Several previous owners have left their unique additions to the property but preserving the buildings identity as a schoolhouse.
