“A View from the Castle” is not to be missed. The American Association of University Women would like to invite you to join us in our spectacular 40th Anniversary Home Tour of Ione, California. Nestled in the beautiful oak covered foothills of the gold country, five families have generously opened their homes for your viewing pleasure.  Three of the homes are turn of the century masterpieces, while the other two homes are modern luxurious golf course gems.  Each home has its own story to tell—during your self-guided tour, AAUW hostess will be available to answer any and all questions you have about the sites.

This year’s tour will feature a self-guided tour of the Preston Castle, an art show, wine tasting, and a visit to one of Ione’s historic churches.  Guests are also invited to enjoy tea and cookies while listening to live music set in a gorgeous garden. Call Lani Chapman with any questions: 209-245-6052.

In addition to these festivities, the AAUW will raffle off an opportunity quilt.  This quilt has been hand-stitched with love to help raise money for future generations of educated women in our community.

This annual event supports the Amador AAUW branch’s efforts to provide academic scholarships to both girls and women of Amador County.  Each year, we send several seventh grade girls to “Tech Trek”- a fascinating and educational summer program designed to enrich and inspire young girls in both math and science.  This year we have added a new program to support girls by offering prizes for young local writers in our first annual “Women’s History Month Essay Contest.” In addition to supporting the youth of our community, the AAUW proudly offers scholarships for women attending Community College and Universities, including both upper division and graduate coursework.

To support the American Association of University Women’s efforts to better serve our community—please purchase tickets for you and your family and friends to enjoy a fun day in Ione, California.
