38th Annual AAUW Home Tour …with homes and historic building spanning three centuries
April 17, 2010
11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Our 2010 Home Tour will be held in Volcano, a little foothill gem, steeped in gold rush era history. This unique town has no cookie cutter shopping centers or chain establishments. Home Tour ticket holders will truly be in for a treat. The 38th annual AAUW Home Tour will feature four homes and several historic sites. Two of the homes, as well as the historic buildings, date back to the mid-eighteen hundreds. A 1930s era home, also on the tour, will enable some ticket holders to re-visit their youth. A lovely, energy efficient (off the grid), straw bale house tops off the home selections. Costumed members of the Volcano Theater Co. will serve as docents at the Cobblestone Theatre and the Volcano Amphitheatre. The Odd Fellows/Masonic Hall (circa 1854) will be open for a rare view of the Mason’s Meeting Hall, still illuminated by gaslights and complete with mid 19th century artifacts. A historic photo exhibit will be on view at the Armory Hall. A walk through the town’s two historic cemeteries will provide a glimpse into Volcano’s rich history. AAUW members will host an Art Show, a wine tasting, as well as a tea with homemade cookies served in a beautiful private creek side garden.
